Five Steps to Certification

The entire process is managed online through the ACI application portal.

Complete Approved Training

Before you apply, you must complete an ACI-approved training course at the appropriate level for your chosen grade and scheme. Training must have been completed within the past 5 years.

  • Identify your target grade and scheme
  • Find an ACI Approved Training Provider (ATP)
  • Complete the appropriate training course (Foundation, Internal Auditor, or Lead Auditor)
  • Pass the ACI examination with the required score

Prepare Your Documents

Gather all required supporting documentation before starting your application. Having documents ready will allow you to complete your application in one sitting.

  • Training certificate from your ACI-approved course
  • Examination result (issued by ACI or your ATP)
  • Completed ACI Audit Activity Log (for AU, LA, PR grades)
  • Current CV or professional summary
  • Professional development statement (PR grade only)

Submit Your Application Online

Create an ACI account or log in, select your grade and scheme, and complete the online application form. Upload all supporting documents as part of the application.

  • Upload all supporting documents (PDF format)
  • Sign the ACI Code of Ethics declaration
  • Pay the application fee online

Application Review

ACI reviews all applications within 15 working days. You can track the status of your application in real time through the ACI portal.

  • Your application is assigned to an ACI assessor
  • The assessor verifies all requirements and documents
  • If additional information is needed, you are notified via email
  • Once verified, the application is approved or a decision is communicated
Corporate members: If your employer has ACI Corporate Membership, they can pay the application fee on your behalf through their employer portal.

Receive Your Certification

Once approved, your certification is issued immediately. You receive your digital Card ID, certificate PDF, and QR code for live verification.

  • Digital Card ID issued (e.g. ACI-LA-2026-00142)
  • Certificate PDF available for download
  • QR code for live verification by employers
  • Listed in the ACI Professional Register
  • Alumni programme membership activated

Recertification fee: £150 for all grades (every 3 years). Corporate members may receive discounted rates depending on membership tier. All fees are subject to VAT where applicable. Fellow grade: no fee — nomination-based.
